Cricket Signage at the San Jose
Spring Style Show 2012

As the Cricket Company’s creative director I recently had the opportunity to redesign some of our trade show signage. The new modular panels were displayed this weekend at Cosmoprof’s Spring Style Show in San Jose, one of the biggest shows in the business featuring Paul Mitchell, Joico, Aquage, Farouk Systems, OPI, American Crew and others.

The panels are created by printing on fabric which is then stretched over a metal frame. After every show the fabric is removed, folded, and stored to prevent damage. They consist of squares and rectangles of the same height that stand side by side. The layout of the graphics allows for any panel to be next to another panel and look like it is supposed to be there, which is important considering the many different spaces they will be used of all different shapes and sizes.

Panel Graphics

I used compelling images of women, descriptive keywords and silhouettes of some of Cricket’s most popular products for a bold, streamlined look. The model images were selected from iStockphoto. The silhouettes were created by using paths I had previously created for product layer masks in Photoshop. I copied the path from Photoshop into Illustrator and used multiple instances of the outer glow effect, then positioned the glowing silhouettes above the colored backgrounds.
